Botswana on Broadway The show: an ensemble of 50 performers tell the story of how Pula, or rain, is the source of all life in Botswana—uniting humans, animals, and plants together under one sky The story: Mmapula, the Rainmaker, is called upon to end the drought that afflicts her tiny village. Seeking to regain her powers, she sets out on a journey far and wide through the inland delta and savannas of her country. Along the way, she interacts with tribespeople and communities through traditional song and dance in an effort to unify the country and restore the life-giving rain for her people. The ensemble: I Love Botswana—a coalition of seven modern and traditional performing arts groups—unites on one stage to extract the beauty of the culture of Botswana through the country’s rich history of dance.
